Odo Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
Odo - Simple Mileage Tracking ("Odo", "the App", "we", "us", or "our") is operated by NeuEra Apps. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mileage tracking application for iOS and Android devices.
PRIVACY BY DESIGN: Odo is built with your privacy as the top priority. All your data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. We do not collect, have access to, or store any of your personal data.
In simple terms: Your data stays on your device. We don't collect it or have access to it.
2. Information We Collect
We do not collect any data from you.
Odo does not transmit any data to our servers. We have no cloud services, no analytics, and no way to access your data.
Data You Enter Into the App
The following information is stored locally on your device only, entered voluntarily by you:
- Vehicle Information: Vehicle names you create and current odometer readings
- Trip Records: Trip dates, start/end odometer readings, calculated distances, trip purposes (business/personal), optional notes, and optional location coordinates
- Expense Records: Expense dates, amounts, categories (fuel, tolls, parking, maintenance, car wash, other), descriptions, optional fuel volumes, optional receipt photo file paths, and optional location coordinates
- User Preferences: Currency settings, IRS mileage rate, distance unit (miles/km), volume unit (gallons/liters)
This data exists solely in a local SQLite database on your device. We have no access to it.
3. Location Data
OPTIONAL LOCATION SNAPSHOTS - NOT TRACKING: Odo can capture a single GPS location when you add a trip or expense. This is fundamentally different from continuous location tracking.
How Location Works in Odo
- One-Time Capture: When you add a trip or expense, the app captures your current location once (a "snapshot")
- Not Tracking: We do NOT track your movements, routes, or location history. Just a single point per entry.
- Completely Optional: You can deny location permission and the app works perfectly without it
- Local Storage: Location coordinates are stored only in the local database on your device
- No Transmission: Location data is never sent to our servers or any third party
- User Control: Location data is included in CSV exports so you have full access to it
Why Location Snapshots?
Location snapshots provide geographic context for your trip and expense records. For example, you might want to note where you filled up gas or where a business trip started. This is purely for your own record-keeping convenience.
How to Disable Location
You can disable location access at any time through your device's settings. The app will continue to function normally without location data.
4. How Your Data Is Stored
Local-Only Storage
- SQLite Database: All app data is stored in a local SQLite database in the app's private storage directory
- Device-Bound: Data never leaves your device through the app (except when you explicitly share)
- No Cloud Sync: There is no cloud backup, sync, or remote storage capability
- No Server Transmission: Your data is never sent to our servers
Export Files
When you choose to export your data:
- CSV Exports: Saved to your device's storage (includes location coordinates if captured)
- PDF Reports: Saved to your device's storage in a location you choose
- Your Control: You decide if and how to share exported files using your device's standard sharing features
5. What We Do NOT Collect
Odo does NOT collect, access, or transmit to our servers:
- Continuous location tracking or movement history
- Personal identification information
- Device identifiers (IMEI, Android ID, advertising ID)
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Crash reports or diagnostics
- Contact information
- Network activity or browsing data
- Photos or media (we only store file paths you select)
- Any data from other apps
- Biometric data
- Financial account information
NO LOCATION TRACKING: While Odo can capture optional location snapshots (a single GPS coordinate per entry), it does NOT track your movements, routes, or location history. All mileage is calculated from odometer readings you manually enter, not from GPS.
6. Third-Party Services
Odo uses one third-party service for map display:
OpenStreetMap (Map Display)
- Purpose: Display map tiles when viewing location snapshots
- What's Sent: Only the map tile coordinates needed to display the map view (not your personal data)
- No Tracking: OpenStreetMap does not track users and has no advertising
- Privacy Policy: OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy
Services We Do NOT Use
- No advertising networks (no ads)
- No analytics services (no Google Analytics, Firebase, etc.)
- No crash reporting services
- No cloud storage providers
- No social media integrations
- No authentication providers
- No payment processors
Your trip data, expense data, and personal information are never sent to any third party. OpenStreetMap only receives the coordinates needed to render map tiles.
7. Data Security
Your data is protected by multiple layers of security:
- App Sandbox: iOS and Android sandboxing prevents other apps from accessing Odo's data
- Private Storage: The SQLite database is stored in the app's private directory, inaccessible to other apps
- No Server Storage: Your data is never stored on our servers, eliminating remote breach risks
- Device Security: Your data is protected by your device's security measures (PIN, fingerprint, encryption)
LOCAL-ONLY SECURITY: Because your data never leaves your device (except when you explicitly share it), there's no possibility of our servers being breached to expose your information.
8. Your Data Rights
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:
- Access: View all your data anytime within the app
- Export: Export your data to CSV or PDF files at any time (includes location data)
- Modify: Edit or update any trip, expense, or vehicle record
- Delete: Delete individual records, vehicles, or all data
- Portability: Export and import data via CSV files
Since we don't have your data, you don't need to contact us to exercise any privacy rights. You have direct, immediate control through the app itself.
9. Data Deletion
You can delete your data at any time:
- Individual Records: Delete specific trips or expenses from within the app
- Vehicles: Deleting a vehicle also deletes all associated trips and expenses
- Clear All Data: Use the app's settings to clear all data
- Uninstall: Uninstalling Odo permanently deletes all app data from your device
Deletion is immediate and permanent. Since no data exists outside your device (on our servers), deletion is complete and irreversible.
10. Children's Privacy
Odo does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app:
- Has no age restrictions
- Does not transmit personal information to our servers
- Has no social features
- Has no in-app purchases
- Has no advertisements
- Requires no account creation
Parents can be assured that children using this app will not have any information collected by us or shared with third parties.
11. App Permissions
Odo requests the following permissions:
Location (Optional)
- When-In-Use Location: Used to capture optional location snapshots when adding trips or expenses
- Completely Optional: You can deny this permission and the app works fully without it
- No Background Access: Location is only accessed while you're actively using the app
Storage/Files
- Storage Access: Required to import CSV files and export CSV/PDF files to your device storage
- File Picker: Used for selecting files during import and optionally attaching receipt photos
Permissions NOT Requested:
- Background location
- Camera (photos are selected from gallery)
- Microphone
- Contacts
- Phone state
- Always-on background services
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes:
- We will update the version date at the top of this policy
- We will post the updated policy on our legal documents portal (legal.neuera.app)
- The new version will be available in the app's "About" section
Any changes will maintain our core principle: your data stays on your device and we don't collect it.
